(Coming Soon) MCP: A New Interoperability Standard for Enterprise-Grade AI Systems

Abstract
Models, tools, data sources, and orchestration layers rarely speak a common language. This fragmentation and lack of interoperability limit scalability, increase integration costs, and slow down time-to-value for AI initiatives.
The Model Context Protocol (MCP), introduced by Anthropic, solves this problem by providing a universal, open protocol for AI models, tools, and applications to communicate. MCP enables a standardized way for AI clients (e.g., copilots, agents, assistants) to access server-side capabilities (e.g., databases, SaaS systems, APIs, knowledge bases) in a secure, role-authenticated, and extensible manner.
Enterprises that adopt MCP can build modular, tool-agnostic AI solutions that can unlock flexibility and vendor neutrality. Together with Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol developed by Google, MCP is poised to accelerate AI and GenAI adoption by enterprises.
